Nunc Dimittis

Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.

This Christmas, we bring to you Simeon’s Prayer, Nunc Dimittis. At first glance, it might seem a bit too grim for the Christmas season. But as we dig further into the text, we see that it is full of hope and joy that surpass understanding. Our gracious God has prepared the ultimate gift, his salvation in the presence of all peoples; and we know His name: Jesus!

As Christmas draws ever nearer, our prayer is that you will experience God’s peace and joy anew. In the midst of darkness, we know and are known by the Light of the world.
